Colorado’s Vail Valley is located about two hours west of Denver. With an average elevation of 8,022 feet, this world-class ski destination is home to two spectacular resorts – Vail Mountain and Beaver Creek. Outside of Vail and Vail Village, the valley encompasses a variety of small communities to the west, including Eagle-Vail, Avon, Minturn, Edwards, Eagle and Gypsum. The Vail Valley developed primarily as a ski destination in the 1960s and ‘70s, though Minturn sprang up well before in the 1800s as a railroad town. Now the valley is a hub of culture, with a variety of fine dining, luxury hotels, events, festivals, shopping and more. A variety of direct flights serve Eagle County Airport, which is located within 30 minutes of Vail and Beaver Creek. Vail Valley Medical Center – located in Vail, Avon, Edwards and Gypsum – offers world-renowned orthopedic services, along with regional cancer and emergency services.
